60 Minutes long.
Another one from the archives. The making of this film preceded the start of Indymedia Ireland. At the time I was an 'activist' on local issues and had done various work for TV in ireland but the two things were compartmentalised. This - made with no budget and an amateur cameraman - was the end of that particular seperation. It was also my introduction to the no-global movement and to Indymedia. The loud English guy Sam who appears early in the film was the first 'indymedia' I ever met and he went on to play a key part in facilitating the making of 'Berlusconi's Mousetrap' by buttonholing the Body Shop lady somewhere and getteing her to pay for a bunch of 25 or so reprobates from the UK, Italy and Ireland to travel to Bologna in late 2001 to swap piles of footage.
The innocence and ignorance of relative youth. I can't help laughing at myself in the film looking back. "No passaran - dunno what that means" - gets me every time. Lots of now familiar faces in the video from the Irish general massive. Even Charlie McCreevy.
