Underspends/hyperspends and budgetary cuts
The Green Party which consists mostly of a parliamentary section and a grassroot will continue
to support FF through whatever budget cuts FF deem necessary to the Irish economy without
question until 2012. it really turns the spotlight onto FG's failure to capture anybody's imagination
save the uber-blonde professional politician types that hang out round Mr Kenny.
Yesterday 09/10/09 Minister Gormley believed that he had the media in thrall from 9am-9pm
with his crack negotiating team comprised of Boyle, White and Ryan. White is notable in that
in her first joint budget with FF she stood and applauded cuts to old people, she is thus
not very bright (low wattage).
Yesterday's Irish Times leaked the fact that (again) the Dept of Education is guilty of a
critical underspend and that Greens like Cuffe could play round with the 356million pot
of cash in a manner which would give the Greens something to put on their election
literature when they start tramping the pavements looking for votes in 2012.
How cynical a bunch of Parliamentaries they are, who have used their parliamentary
influence to support proposal after proposal, bill after bill by FF without the say so
of the Grassroot. Indeed they have put quite a cosmetic face on their decision-making
by calling meetings and conventions to rubber-stamp all that has been decided.
Some activists and media actually bought into these cynical manouevres and allowed
the small grassroot angry party be king-makers for the day.
Three things were required for Governmenatal survival and those three things will be achieved
by the Green party, thus pushing the opposition into the Ha'penny place:
i) The ratification of Lisbon II ( 09/10/09 : ratified by Dáil Eireann)
ii) JCP support for NAMA (Expected today 10/10/09)
iii). The passing of the 2009 Bugdget (to be achived under the new PFG).
Before the recess the Greens who always did support the programme for Govt pushed
through a raft of guillotined debates including the Crime Bill (2009) and the Criminalisation
for Blasphemy. Anyone who is under the illusion that the Greens are democratically fighting
are just incapable of thought process beyond what is served up by the likes of Davin-Power
and Bird.
It really does point to utter 12 year long failure on the part of an impotent and flagging
opposition whose one hope seems sited in sweeping to power on the back of anger at
FF (this is not going to happen anytime soon dears).
