28 bands, one gig , one message
28 acts take to the stage in Sweeney’s for Love Music Hate Racism’sElectric Picnic Fundraiser this Friday 19th August. The event is splitinto two parts with the early show being Love Music Hate Racism’sfirst underage show featuring 7 teenage bands, kicking off at 2pmupstairs on the 1st floor.The underage gig was organised by JordenBukspan , a young student at Stratford college who approached LMHRwanting to get involved.
 Love Music Hate Racism Festival Fundraiser and All Ages gig this Friday ‘’It’s always been one of our main goals to get young people involved.There’s no doubt that this will be the first of many teenage gigs,andsoon we’ll be working with schools and finding ways of getting moreyoung people involved with things like creative competitions. Jordenhas done an amazing job,and we’re over the moon with the young bandsthat are willing to get behind the message’’ said Kurt Nikolaisen, oneof LMHR’s coordinator's.An eclectic mix of live music will rock the foundations of Sweeney’sstarting on the ground floor at 5pm but soon spreading to all 3 floorswith doors opening at 8.30 upstairs and 9.30 in the basement.Highlights include ska ,punk & reggae maestros The Whipround , whowill be embarking on Love Music Hate Racism’s first cross border tour, and House Of Dolls who recently supported Glasvegas on an Irishtour.And that’s only 2 of the 21 acts all billed to play on thenight.Also on the night , LMHR will be asking the audience to pick oneof the acts to play the Love Music Hate Racism marquee at ElectricPicnic , located in the Late Night Arena.The marquee will act as an information , merchandise , Live Music &DJ tent and with a fully kitted out stage, and two camera crewsthey’ll be inviting members of the public and acts billed on thefestival line up to perform , be recorded and interviewed.‘’It’s all a part of the plan to bring LMHR to the next level, and wesee this as an opportunity to reach out to people at Electric Picnicand let them know what our plans are ,and how they can be involved ’’said Kurt. ‘’ We’ve got a cross boarder tour we’ll be working on withLMHR Northern Ireland , a series of events in Cork and Galway and ourown festival happening in April next year in Dublin.Everything we doat Electric Picnic will be recorded and used to promote LMHR acrossthe country with our main focus to be schools and young peoplesinvolvement through creative competitions.’’Admission to the late show is a €5 donation to LMHR’s Electric Picnicfund , but with that you’ll receive a raffle ticket which enters youinto a draw to win one of 2 pairs of Electric Picnic tickets donatedby POD , and a Yamaha Electric Guitar kit kindly donated by MusicMaker.
