Near FM is launching a series that celebrates Jazz and Blues music in Dublin. This series is a follow up to the very successful Northside Blues series from 2009.

There are three sixty minute programmes featuring the music and stories of Honor Heffernan, Bree Harris and Susan Tomelty. The programmes document each of the artists featured and the Jazz and Blues scene in Dublin both past and present.

The programmes will be broadcast as follows:

Near FM (90.3fm) and streaming internationally from www.near.ie/webcam
Thursday 29th March @ 2pm: Programme 1 Susan Tomelty
Thursday 5th April @ 2pm: Programme 2 Honor Heffernan
Thursday 12th April @ 2pm: Programme 3 Bree Harris

The Official Launch of the series will take place in Clontarf Yacht and Boat club on Saturday 24th of March 2012 and is open to the public. Music will be provided on the night by Honor Heffernan and Susan Tomelty with The Northside Blues Ensemble (Pat Farrell, James Delaney, Jim Tate, Grant Nicholas).

Susan Tomelty hails from a theatrical and musical family in Portaferry, Co. Down. She has a passion for singing, writing melody and performing. Susan's musical journey has taken her from her native Co. Down to Scotland, England, France, Sweden, Denmark, Nashville and all over Ireland. A pure and distinctive voice, she can cover a wide range of material but her influences are more Rhythm & Blues, Soul and Gospel.

Honor Heffernan has been performing as both a singer and actress for over 30 years now. She has been both critically and publicly acclaimed as a singer whose versatility and superior vocal ability means she is comfortable singing anything from Jazz and Blues to Rock and Folk. She has earned the reputation as Ireland's leading Jazz singer. Over the years she has played with Ireland's leading Blues, Jazz and Rock musicians including Jim Doherty and Louis Stewart.

Tickets to the show are €12 and available on the door. This includes a free CD.
Doors are at 9pm.
